The collaboration between Merlo Training and Research Centre (CFRM) and the Italian Army for the training activities continues.
The operations of the Italian Army at the CFRM now include a new set of activities such as the training of drivers of VTLM Lince light transport vehicles and BV tracked vehicles.
CFRM track has been selected by the 2nd Regiment of the Italian Alpine Troops from Cuneo for driving school activities on the challenging path that includes both extreme off-road conditions, prepared terrain and also road sections.
People and vehicles undergo significant stress: slope reaches 60% and there are particularly challenging counterslope sections that cause fast changes in vehicle track alignment, resulting in transversal accelerations up to 2 G.
The difficult practicability of most sections of the track, very muddy due to continuous and copious autumn rain, tests both drivers’ skills and vehicles’ reliability. Indeed, it is precisely within such a context that one can appreciate the professional attitude and effectiveness of the countless training sessions attended by the teams.
